Dog Lovers Ministry

When Lindsay Merino started The Dog Lover’s Ministry at The Rock Church in San Diego, she pictured providing a relaxed atmosphere where people could meet together and encounter the Gospel. But God intended much more for her.

“We started this ministry this past May with about 25 people,” Lindsay said. “All of a sudden God showed me His Vision—what He wanted, and I thought, ‘Oh, Lord. There is no way I can do all of that by myself’.” Lindsay said she felt God leading her to create a ministry which would “support all areas of the church by partnering with other ministries to assist them with dogs: foster care, the military, homeless, convalescent homes, the sick and shut-in.”

In addition, the ministry would show God’s love by providing a service to those people who can no longer take care of their dogs; help provide low-cost spay/neuter services, micro-chipping; walk their dogs; take dogs to places where people are lonely and would respond to a loving dog, as in therapy.

And the Dog Lover’s Ministry is exactly that now, meeting twice a month to fellowship, pray, and invite friends who are unsaved, as well as serve those who are unable to care for their pets.

Lindsay’s unique love for dogs and desire to share the Gospel led her to do something to bring the two together. From there, God expanded her vision to become an even more powerful statement of His love.
